September 26, 1980 Today my adventure with the university ended. Unfortunately, we didn’t get our own flat, because we didn’t have enough money or savings book but there is also good news! We got a job in agriculture and it made a way for us to have a business apartment. However, at this place we’re struggling with great difficulties! They want to throw us out! Yesterday, the militia with other officials came to our flat and removed the plugs! We have to sit without power. A few days ago we had an eviction case in the court. We decided to leave the country… To be honest it wasn’t an easy decision because it’s very difficult for a non-married couple to get passports: even if one person gets it, the other doesn’t. Therefore we are getting married on November 22. December 3, 1981 It is a very harsh winter. My husband was taken away to serve in the military when I’m broke and to boot I had another baby! I got the standard issue of only two baby’s tops and 10 diapers. December 13, 1981 The Communist government declared martial law in Poland! And where is my Darling??? I want to see, hug and cuddle him, I miss him so much! God, please help me get my Love back! 13
