September 27, 1982 It turned out that this time we didn’t fail and we have the passports. We can go to Yugoslavia but thence we can’t cross the border of Italy or Austria, we have to pass only through Poland and Czechoslovakia. We want to escape through the green border anyway. I learnt that in Yugoslavia there is Trieste city and it half belongs to Italy and half to Yugoslavia and if we got there we could go thence to Italy. So I'm going to pack our luggage. September 30, 1982 (1) Ideas for our escape from Poland: A. Travel to Trieste and go to the Italian Embassy B. If plan A doesn’t come unglued we are going to sell the car, buy a boat and penetrate into Italian territory. C. I’ve heard that in Trieste there is a tunnel, through which we can get into Western Europe. 15
