December 15, 1981 My desire to go abroad is growing more and more every day. Although many times I applied for the passport (they denied me each time) I never give up, I never lose hope. December 19, 1981 My Honey got back home eventually! September 15, 1982 I was shopping today and I was waiting all day in the queue to buy some meat. Suddenly, across the street I noticed a large poster. I asked the lady who was standing in front of me to keep her eye on my place in the queue and I went to see the placard. The king size advert read that they were selling two-week holiday-packages in Yugoslavia. I entered the travel agent’s office and asked what I had to do to get such a package. The young woman snarled something and said I needed to have a passport but it’s enough to have a special kind of passport which allows you to drive only through the communist countries (other European countries are banned). I’m thrilled because of it! I took the questionnaire therefrom which we now have to fill in. 14
